Derek Fay Derek is no stranger to the weight room. After suffering three herniated disc's during a body building accident in summer of 2006, Derek was told he would never power lift again. Derek was given the option of surgery or physical therapy and chose the latter. Derek endured 15 months of grueling rehabilitation then was released and fully cleared to start training again in spring of 2008. It was then that a US NAVY SEAL friend recommended CrossFit. Derek now holds a CrossFit Level I and USA Weightlifting certification. He also interns under Josh Everett at University of California Riverside all while working towards his Kinesiology degree. With the current state of our nations health in rapid free-fall, and our future all but certain, Derek is breaking the "globo-gym" mold of "fitness," and strives for "functional survival training." |
